Howdy from Houston!
Howdy from Houston, Texas everyone! Okay so we are not in Texas anymore, but here is a little sneaky peek of what we were up to last week when we packed our bags and headed to the state where everything is bigger. (Facts: everything IS bigger in Texas - even the heat!)
The Travellers
Once upon a time, two Canadian social media strategists decided to venture on a trip to Houston, Texas…in July. Little did they know that Texas in the summer is brutally hot and even more humid. But alas, these two seasoned travellers made the best of it with plenty of chilled bevys (wine), snacks, and time spent in (air conditioned) bookshops and restaurants. It was an incredible journey full of crazy Uber rides, sweaty laughs, pool-side chats, oodles of photo-ops, and two EPIC trips to Target.
The Place
Houston, Texas is an interesting place. It is big, it is hot, and it is very very friendly! Our travellers quickly discovered the joy that is Southern hospitality and within hours made friends with a local restauranteur, the staff at the hotel, and the cashier at Target! Do our travellers recommend this destination - definitely not in July (too hot). But it a cool place to see if you’re looking for some good food, kind people, and you REALLY like country music!
The Swans
Upon their arrival in Houston, the two travellers discovered a curious sight - paddle boat swans swimming in the river! This was an opportunity not to be missed, and our heroines seized it immediately. Little did they know that paddle boating in 37C with a humidex in the high 70th percentile, does not an enjoyable paddle make. Even despite the fact that the swan paddle boat was adorable, they quickly made it back to shore and into the shade (and the air-conditioned trolley bus). However, if any of you are in Houston, and the heat os of no concern check out the Swan Paddle Boats and have a blast!
The Food
Last but most definitely not the least: The Food! Our travellers indulged in all that Houston has to offer in the culinary sense. TexMex began their epic journey and also ended it. A quick trip to P.F.Changs was a culinary highlight (their lettuce wraps are truly music to anyone’s tastebuds!) And of course, no trip to the US would be complete without a trip through the food aisles at Target (yes we love us some Target!) All of this to say, Texas has some amazing food and there is something for everyone!
And now we come to the end of our Texas tale - the story of heat, humidity, food, and of course, Target! Hope you enjoyed this journey with us and if you want to see more of our travellers’ epic trip, check it out here on the gram!
